This beat is one of the most popular upper Tweed beats. Much of the water is ideal for first time anglers, but there is plenty to
keep the experienced anglers happy too. There are two miles of interesting double bank fishing and another mile of single bank,
making three miles in all.
The beat is in an attractive location and easily reached by car, although access to the main hut can be restricted after a really
large flood. The banks are generally grass with few interfering trees, so that casting and walking are made relatively easy.
There are eight pools, including the Traquair Boat Pool which must be one of the best pools in the area (without a boat which isn't
really needed). There is one ghillie and the number of rods allowed to fish is nine, split into three beats and rotating on an am/pm
basis.
Please note that it may be necessary for parties of other than three people to be split over separate beats.
Traquair House is open to the public during some of the fishing season and is only a short walk from the beat. The oldest inhabited
historic house in Scotland for centuries it has had connections with various kings and queens of Scotland and in particular Mary
Queen of Scots. There are also gift, antique and craft shops and a small working brewery which produces the well known Traquair
Ale.
Accommodation is available in Traquair House with special B&B rates during October Рplease ring 01896 830323 for more details.
Local anglers who live within Innerleithen or Traquair parishes can purchase a syndicate rod at half price. Please phone the office
for details.
