In view of the prices now paid for let fishing both myself, as Letting Agent, and my Clients, as Fishery owners, feel that Tenants should receive as high a standard of service as possible. We try to provide this and to improve continually when we can and where finances permit, and the wide scope of these particulars should give some indication of this.
In addition the following may reassure anybody who has had an unhappy experience elsewhere.
- Once you have received your booking confirmation you are guaranteed your right to fish on the agreed dates. Despite the large numbers of bookings going through this office each year, double bookings continue to be avoided through the use of sophisticated computer programmes.
- There will never be any more Rods on the water than the maximum given in the beat description in these particulars, and there may well be less.
- A Gillie will normally show you the water on arrival and advise you generally, provided you have rung him to arrange this. He will also supervise a fair beat rotation system which will enable every rod to have an equal chance and help those who wish to fish together to do so. See beat descriptions for full gillie information.
- If the owner has reserved a rod for his own use, he will not have any more priority as to where to fish than other Rods have.
- You should not be bothered by other Rods who do not know the etiquette of salmon fishing. Guidance is given to such Rods and if they flout it they are politely asked to leave. Where fishing is single bank, opposite owners have generally agreed to do the same.
- You will pay exactly the same price per Rod as everybody else on the beat. No discounts are given and sub-letting at different prices is strictly forbidden.
- If you have taken a full week, you will have absolute first refusal of the equivalent dates in succeeding years after allowing for changes in the calendar. The only exceptions will be where an owner does not wish to relet at all (in which case the nearest possible equivalent will be offered) or where a Tenant has misconducted himself.
- On the Hendersyde, West Learmouth and Boleside beats, no vacated autumn week will be relet until all the Spring fishers have been given a chance to take it. Hence you have to take a spring week before an autumn week and nobody can jump the queue!
